5 Tips for Real Estate Agents to Be Comfortable on Camera

Are you feeling nervous about making videos for social media as a real estate agent? Don't worry – you're not alone! Many agents struggle with being comfortable on camera, but with a little practice, it's something that anyone can learn. Here are five tips to help you feel more confident and natural when filming videos for social media:

1. Practice speaking in front of the camera beforehand. Before you start filming your videos, take some time to get comfortable with looking at the lens. You can do this by setting up your phone or webcam and practicing speaking to it as if you were recordingn for real. This will help you get used to the feeling of being on camera and also allow you to iron out any nervous habits or ticks.

When I did my very first videos, I remember practicing in front of the mirror and getting all nervous. Sometimes it's helpful to just get som practice reps beforehand.

2. Dress as comfortable & as routine as you can. First impressions are everything and we need you feeling like yo' best self.

3. Choose the right location. A hack for getting comfortable on camera is by environment design. Be intentional and strategic about your backdrop & background.

4. Use props or visuals to help make your video dynamic. Sometimes when ALL of the eyes are on us - it makes things even easier to put the viewers' eyes on something (or someone) else. Use some toy or tool... or even bring a friend in on the video.

5. Lastly, take comfort in knowing that no one really cares as much about your videos the way you do. They're truly just scrolling, maybe stopping for a few seconds, and then scrolling past you either way...

This is a long term game, so don't worry about crushing your first few videos.

The truth is you just need to get the reps. And through volume of videos - you will get more comfortable.

So, stop reading this and GO MAKE SOME DAMN VIDEOS!!
